On the Road Again

Friday, Nov. 30, the boys and I leave for Zambia. We're accustomed to long road trips and have been pining for the asphalt, so a four day trip 'into Africa' (as the South Africans say) will be a welcome holiday expedition. We're traveling to Lusaka (google up a map!) and will be working at a World Vision school for orphans for 7 days and then we'll travel back home via Chobe National Park in Botswana (google).
Prayer requests:
Safety as we travel.
No 'big game encounters' closer than 50 meters.
no shortage of breath mints and deodorant.
but really..........
pray for an indelible experience that changes us for ever towards greater Kingdom encounters!

I love you all. I'll be off the radar for 3 weeks. Tylyn, Bethany and Travis...take care of one another! Family: take care of Tylyn, Bethany and Travis. Friends: ditto family. XXOO

your scaring me with the wild life stuff. be careful which I know I don't need to say but I can't help it. I'm now the official Laura Taylor and boys Encinitas Newsstand - Everyone that doesn't use the computer or just likes paper comes to me for copies of your blog pages and they love them. Tons of people I want to ask- how do they know you? I'm going to start saying hey you can't have these copies unless you're sending them money. just kidding but it could be effective. vs

Oh sister! Heed Emily's warning. Baboons & monkeys are notorious for picking off molding, mirrors...whatever they can get their strong little fingers on. We drove through an animal preserve in Canada and laughed our heads off as what appeared to be a trained team of monkeys picked every stitch of molding off the car in front of us. (Man, were they fast.)

God taught us a valuable lesson that day, because as we were watching and laughing (shame on us) the monkey "B team" was working on our car. We drove our station wagon for many years with the molding picked completely off one side, it was our just desert.

Are you home yet? How was your trip? Did you see any animals? (Duh, we're in AFRICA....) How was traveling? What kind of ministry work were you involved in at your destination?

Oh,I just read a wonderful bunch of verses, Exodus 33:8-17. It's about how Moses walked so closely with God that whenever Moses went to the tent of meeting, all the people would stand and worship because the pillar of cloud with the Lord's presence would stand at the entrance and the Lord would speak with Moses. (Also Leviticus 9:23, that Moses, Aaron, and Aaron's sons' obedience resulted in the Lord appearing to all the people of Israel.)

I was thinking about how when we walk REALLY closely with Jesus, that we bring Him into every situation we enter, so people can see God, and worship Him. God said to Moses in 33:14, "...My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest." I like that part too. I love that we don't have to do one stinkin' thing alone, and that God Himself will give us rest. That's good, because no one knows better than He does when we need it.

Hi Laura and family!!!
It is the day after Christmas. The weather here in Pleasanton is in the 50's. A far cry from the
90's over there.
Crosswinds Christmas was wonderful - as you might guess. Your son sang and knocked our socks off!
What an exciting adventure you had though Africa. Sounds like your prayers were answered and how cool that you got to work with World Vision people.
Tate and Ryder are going on the Crosswinds Youth Group Mission to Belize this spring vaction. Maybe someday the youth group will go to see you???
Much love to you and your boys!!!
Laura
